What Is a Technology Stack?

What is a Technology Stack and why it’s important to have it!

Technology stack is the combination of programming languages, tools and frameworks that the developers use to create web and mobile applications. There are two main components to any application, known as client side and server side, also popular as front end and back end.

You may have heard talk of full stack developers – people as comfortable working in a back-end database as developing front-end interfaces. Start-ups now seek full stack marketers. Build better demand generation from the ground up: supporting the perfect customer experience by aligning technology, data, people and process.

In the last years, there has been an explosion of innovation in web and native technologies, with rapid releases of libraries, frameworks and tools to help developers create applications for this new world. On the back-end, Node.js, a stripped-down event machine written in JavaScript, has become the foundation for developers adapting their server back-ends to the new multi-device world. On the front-end, there has been a Cambrian explosion of new experimental libraries to help web and native developers create the next generation of user experiences.

The Right Technology Stack

Your choice of front-end technology stack depends on the type of applications you want to build and the nature of your organization.

Back-end tech stack

The back-end contains the business logic that works behind the scenes to drive your application. The back-end of the web industry is often called the server-side.  The most well known example of a back-end tech stack is the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). Frameworks are incredibly useful because they provide a standard way to build and deploy applications.

Front-end tech stack

The front-end is the visual part of your application that users will see and interact with.
When building for the web, the front-end tech stack is made up of:
✓HTML (Markup Language)
✓CSS (Style Sheet Language)
✓JavaScript (Scripting Language)

Top 5 Front-End Frameworks are:

1. Bootstrap
2. Semantic-UI
3. Foundation
4. Materialize
5. Material UI

Below are four tips How NOT to Choose a tech stack?
1. Don’t Choose Based on Personal Preferences.
2. Don’t Choose Based on Previous Projects.
3. Don’t Choose Based on Competitors’ Experiences.
4.  Don’t Choose Based on Online Research.
